I Have To Admit This Is Embarrassing!

I have to admit this is embarrassing to write, because I am sharing something so personal with you, which I never thought I would ever talk about publicly. But if it helps just one person, like you, it’s worth sharing!

When you are sick, it sucks. There is no doubt about that. Extra pain on top of pain, can hurt like hell!

(If you didn’t know I have been having a lot of pelvic pain due to an infection, I had to have antibiotics for this, which ended yesterday. I also went to the Doctor’s yesterday and have two creams, 1 for inflammation and another for ringworm on my arm!!!)

But… when you are right about something and something is working, you shouldn’t try to fix something that isn’t broken.

However, sometimes you want to test the waters, and you break things, in order to improve other things, in theory!

But… sometimes the reality is, you were succeeding and doing so well. You changed something and then you see a decline in your health in more ways than 1.

I recently removed 2 food items, one that I eat almost daily and one that I eat at least 3 times a week, but haven’t done so for the last week. Result is poor skin, poor bowel movements… to add to my infection problem. I instantly added 1 back when I thought about what I changed, result, literally back to normal bowel movement, instead of straining on the toilet for 20 minutes, feeling like you are about to give birth! Only what pops out, or doesn’t and you have to help it, is pretty yucky to the eye!

And yes, I recommend to eat this every day, or at least every other day, 4th day without this, and your health is a goner! This hasn’t happened before as far as I can remember, unless I am on holiday and can’t get this ingredient! I have never actively chosen to not eat this, since 2014. It wasn’t that I intended to not ever eat it again, I just wanted to have a change! Sometimes change can be a good thing, in this case, not… it’s what can happen if you don’t take this…

I admit I give great advice in my books, which sometimes even I don’t always take every bit of, for myself, consistently. My friends who buy my books end up quoting my own wise words back to me. I need to re-read them to give myself a refresher! Which I do! I am not perfect and I cock-up every now and then. This has been a major cock-up for my health, but I have learned so much from this experience… and a good lesson to learn. Remove one variable at a time and you get shit, or not – as was the case with the first food, before I added it back.

I never planned to do a health experiment. But what I have learned once again, is to always, always, trust your own judgement, and when something is right, even though it may not be doing what the majority do, keep it! And if others want to be helped too by it, then that’s great! At least you know that you are 100% right, and it works crazily well and can help others if they want it to.

IT’S NOT SELFISH! Making You, Your Number one!


Not selfish quote -self love

It’s not selfish to put yourself first; to love yourself, and to make you your number one priority, it’s a necessity! People seem to have it in their heads that they have to be giving as that is part of loving others, and while they have a fair point, you need to have boundaries in place and not compromise yourself out of all recognition. In fact, you DON’T have to compromise yourself, as your needs should be your priority, so you must do what is overall best for you, as you are the one who has to live with yourself day in and day out! This means you need to  choose relationships and friendships that best compliment your personality, your life and lifestyle. Notice I said compliment, they don’t have to exactly match.

The thing is, if you end up giving, whilst not really living the life you want to lead, or doing anything you want to do, you will no longer feel connected to your own soul and this could have serious repercussions in your current and future relationships. You may feel resentful without meaning to be, you may feel confused about what you want, you may not know who you are!

This was me years ago, before my diagnosis of Fibro and now I come first. No more housework for a guy, if I get a boyfriend in the future. No more sex, as I now know I am asexual – not a sexual – and there are thousands of others like me around the globe! No more having to relationship compromise and put your partner first – no, I come first, if I had a partner, every single time. I live on my own, I am responsible for my bills and my rent and food in my belly, I still need to take care of me, he can look after himself, just like I can look after myself, I am a girl – not a mother and cleaner upper! This is not the conventional attitude, I know, but this is me! I don’t like cooking, cleaning and housework – and I also don’t like watching sport or TV – so I don’t! I live for me and that is fab. I also enjoy staying up until 2am or 4am in the morning. Of course I am caring, but that can be taken advantage of – so no more am I a doormat! No more do I have to think of others all the time. I have to focus on me more to be happy. And I can tell you from suffering with depression for most of my life prior to 2012, that this attitude is one that I should have adopted years ago as now I love jumping out of bed every day, even when life is tough. I love being alive, and I love life and living it my quirky and unconventional way! Do I feel a bit guilty sometimes – do I feel I will be judged as being bad and uncaring – yes, I do feel this sometimes, because I think it can sound cold and uncaring to be this way, (even though I am very kind and caring), as that is not what is traditionally expected – especially of a female! Will I change back – no, never. I am not saying I will never ever cook food for a guy, but I won’t make a habit of it, and I will set the record from the beginning my expectations. And yes, I want to remain living on my own, maybe forever. I love where I live, because I live on my own but in the middle of a house so have the best of both worlds!

So don’t ever feel selfish to self-date and take time out for you. The happier and healthier you are in your own right, the better off you will be for others. I am living proof of that. That is how I feel. I also know I can survive and thrive on life because of this. And don’t ever feel selfish living your life, your own quirky way! There is no way I would want to be at home watching TV and going to bed at a reasonable hour each day, and living a normal life – I would be so very bored, unmotivated, and feel older – I am young, quirky, 21st mindset me! The best way to be!

Generation Cherry is a cracking book for the 50+ generation. Being an avid reader and Author of self-help, how-to and Personal And professional development books, I can see how much time, effort, knowledge and skill, the writer has put into creating this book.

Essentially, this book is a well-written and crafted system for how to cope with your life after retirement, redundancy, or a change in circumstance, using the 4 autonomies to get your life in balance, keep it that way, and get a second bite of the cherry of life!

What is good about this book is it also covers how to deal with life when you have less money, in a productive and positive way, using Enlightened Thrift. So you have that feel good factor in your life, whatever the circumstances.

The use of quotes and references throughout the book adds to its helpfulness and I particularly enjoyed reading the play on Stephen Covey’s words “Seven Insidious Excuses Forcibly Rejected By Highly Effective people”.

If you are into NLP, A Coach, Entrepreneur, or New Lifer, this book is for you!

I would have given this book 5 Stars because I admire the Author’s work and have respect for him because of it. However, I am not the intended target audience, I am under 40 and did not like the remarks made about young people throughout the first half of the book. I felt they are stereotyped and as not knowing what they want and that they aren’t as successful in business as older people are. The Author managed to redeem himself in the latter half of the book, where he reveals having a young mindset is key to living a long and happy life, and that in his 70s, he adopts a young mindset and is still learning and looking forward to new adventures, while being a second biter of Generation Cherry!

  3. By providing examples and illustrations, they are easy to understand.
  4. You can learn at your own pace.
  5. They can improve your confidence and self-esteem.
