Double Recognition – Two Liebster Awards

Hi Everyone

I have been thrilled to receive a number of awards over the last couple of months, including these two Liebster Awards . I have already been given a pink Liebster Award and now I have a blue one and a white one to add to my collection. Although I have noticed that the white Liebster award is not the same as my previous pink award or the blue one because it states Liebster Blog and then a heart to symbolise love. So I guess with the third award I am getting some serious blog loving.

liebster-award
I won my second Liebster Award March 15th 2013

The Blue Liebster Award is from Rohan rohan7things.wordpress.com

Liebster Blog Heart

I received this Liebster Blog (Love) award from mikesfilmtalk.com on March 26th 2013.

Thanks to Rohan and Mike for these two beautiful blog awards. I am very grateful for each and every award that I receive and I feel honoured that people have taken the time to read my blog and are enjoying the content.

As there appears to be some discrepancies between the rules for theses awards I am going to use the rules that I used for my first pink Liebster Award on the 10th of November 2012 quirkybooks.wordpress.com/2012/11/10/the-liebster-award-thanks-and-nominations for both of these awards.

For this award I need to:

  • Answer 11 questions from the nominator. As Rohan hasn’t asked me any questions, I will answer the ones from Mike.
  • Nominate 11 other people to receive this award (It is meant to be for people who have less than 200 followers but I don’t mind who you nominate. It’s the thought that counts.)
  • Create 11 questions for the new nominees to answer
  • Place the blog award on my blog
  • Link back to the people who nominated me for this award
  • Inform my nominees of their award from me

My 11 questions to answer are:

  1. Are you a cat or dog person, and why? Although I like cats, I am a dog person. My best friend when I was young was my cocker spaniel called Purdy. Nowadays my guineapigs are the love of my life. They are so cute, loveable and gorgeous. (Smaller poos to clean up too.)
  2. If you were stranded on a desert island, which three celebrities would you choose to be with you? Kylie Minogue, Fred Savage (If you remember him from The Wonder Years) and Bruno Mars.
  3. What’s your favourite film of all time? I have 3, You got Served, Grease, Dirty Dancing. All dance and music films. You Got Served is hip hop and has a great story line.
  4. Is there anything that you collect, and if so what? Erasers. (Some may like to call them rubbers but to avoid confusion with condoms, I like to use the word eraser.) I tend to buy them from the places that I visit and any I find that are unusual. I also collect eeyore things , from Winnie the Pooh. If you click on the link you will see a short video of eeyore:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMDAY8H5yIw
  5. What is the strangest or most inventive thing you’ve ever dressed up as for a fancy dress partyI haven’t been to a fancy dress party as such but I have hired a witches costume and been in the audience of a Deal or No Deal Halloween special. I wore the costume on the train to go to the studios on my own from Exeter to Bristol.  A couple commented that I was brave to do that.
  6. Are you a Windows or Mac user? I am definitely a Mac user. Although I do use Windows for Mac.
  7. What is your favourite place to go? To go on holiday I like Disneyland Paris or London. I love being busy and going to fun places. I especially like going to theme parks, zoos and aquariums.
  8. If you could keep any animal in the world as a pet, what would you choose and why? My 4 beautiful guineapigs. They are the best thing ever.
  9. What is your proudest moment, like, ever? I have a lot. My latest one is being singled out for an official Special Recognition Award for my http://www.beatredundancyblues.com website prior to its launch. It is signed by Womens Development Unlimited and Devon County Council. (There is no apostrophe in their spelling of womens)
  10. Do you have any weird nicknames? No. My strangest one when I was at secondary school was “Sange”.
  11. If you could be anyone for a day (dead or alive, real person or a character, animated or real) , who would you choose and what would you do? If I had a previous life, I always used to think I was a tortoise, don’t ask me why, I have no idea. It may be because I had one for a pet. I guess I wouldn’t mind being a bird, so I could try out flying for the day but I would need to have a different mind because I don’t like heights and would spend all day on the ground. I like my mind so think I will stick to being me.

My 11 questions are:

  1. Do you prefer black or white and why?
  2. What do you like most about rain?
  3. If you could publish any one book that you are currently writing, which one would it be and why?
  4. If you weren’t a writer, what other job would you be doing and why?
  5. Do you prefer poetry or prose?
  6. What is your greatest writing moment to date and why?
  7. What is your favourite genre to read and why?
  8. What is you favourite animated film?
  9. Do you prefer How to or self-help books and why?
  10. How would you like people to remember you?
  11. What are your three most positive words.

I nominate the following bloggers for the blue Liebster Award:

  1. inspireyourbusiness.wordpress.com
  2. acflory.wordpress.com
  3. julesgemstonepages.wordpress.com
  4. photographyofnia.com
  5. renardmoreau.wordpress.com
  6. maryamshahbazmian.wordpress.com
  7. hilalachmar.wordpress.com
  8. luggnaggsland.wordpress.com
  9. mjwrightnz.wordpress.com
  10. dailylifeimpressions.wordpress.com
  11. babyjill7.wordpress.com

I nominate the following bloggers for the white Liebster Blog (Heart) award:

  1. oasien.wordpress.com
  2. landoffun.wordpress.com
  3. ladylovelyblogger.wordpress.com
  4. bbanublog.wordpress.com
  5. suewestwood.wordpress.com
  6. diedreblake.wordpress.com
  7. darlenecraviotto.com
  8. womenmakingstrides.com
  9. simplymejustbe.wordpress.com
  10. caseyroach.blogspot.co.uk
  11. followmyfreedom.wordpress.com

Some of you may have over 200 followers but like I said, it’s the thought that counts.

Happy Easter to all of my fellow bloggers. Thanks for your support.

How To Put A Blog Award On Your WordPress Blog

Hi Everyone

I have recently been asked for the third time, how to put a blog award on a WordPress Blog, so rather than email you individually I have decided to put the instructions in a post. I hope you can understand them and follow them. I have a Mac and have tried to make the instructions applicable to a PC aswell.

I have written these instructions as if the person were trying to put the One Lovely Blog award on their blog but if it’s another award then you just use another award instead and give it the appropriate title.

I have broken the process down into two stages. There may be quicker a way of doing it but I am no tech genius so if you have a quicker way then please share it. Let me know how you get on and what you found difficult to understand.

Stage One:

In WordPress, under Posts, click Add New, to create a new blog post. Give the Blog post a relevant title and click on the Draft save button.

Go to the post in which you were nominated for the award. To do this you can either open a new window or click on the comments symbol in the top right of your dashboard then click on the post link and go to it. Scroll down the post until you come to the image of the award. The simplest way to make the award visible on your post is to highlight the award and hold CTRL and click on C to copy the image, then go back to your blog post and hold down the CTRL button again and click V to paste it directly into your post. Alternatively, highlight the award usually by right clicking on it and save it somewhere such as your media library, my documents or downloads folder, remember to give it an identifiable name, such as One Lovely Blog Award and the format should be jpeg.

If you haven’t been able to copy and paste it directly into your blog post then you will need to upload the image from where you saved it. Click on the Add Media button under your Post Title, find the image you want from the folder you put it in and highlight it, then click the upload button.

Stage Two:

Left click on the image in the top left corner and click on the little picture icon that says Edit Image. A new box will appear. You can change the size of the image. If you need the image to fit in with your sidebar width, you may have to play around with the sizes in the Advanced Settings screen by clicking on the Advanced Settings tab. In the normal Edit Image mode you can choose to change the alignment of the award. You can give it a title – One Lovely Blog Award and it’s best to type this in Alternative Text too, to enhance your SEO. You can write a caption in the caption box such as “I Won” if you want to.

Very Important – In the Link URL section, click the Link to Image option and this will come up with a long code, highlight the code and hold CTRL and click on C to copy it. Then click on Update to save the settings.

Click Save Draft to ensure you have saved the image into the post.

Go to Appearance in your Dashboard and click on Widgets. On the right hand side you will see a list of Widget Areas and to the left you will have a list of Available Widgets. Go to the Image Widget and click on Add. This will bring up two boxes, one is asking you for information about the Widget. Here you can input the following:

Widget Title = One Lovely Blog Award

Image URL is usually the URL address that you would re-direct people to if they clicked on the image. You may want to do this if you have another site that you would like your followers to visit.

Alternative Text: This is for SEO, I would just type One Lovely Blog Award the Image Title is usually the same and I don’t necessarily use that aswell.

The Caption is what else you want to say, such as “I Won”.

You can change the Image Alignment and the size. To be honest, sometimes I find it easier to make the adjustments in this screen rather than in the previous one.

Very Important – Put your cursor in the box under Link URL and hold CTRL and V to paste in that code that you copied from the previous screen.

Finally, decide what Widget Area you want the award to be in and click on the arrows to choose its position. Then click Save Widget. If you don’t save it, you will have to repeat this process again.

If your Widget Area Positions are full then you will either need to let the image over-ride something else or choose to have a page for your awards.

Ensure you click on the Read Blog option from the drop down menu under your name in the top right of your dashboard, to see if you have successfully put your award where you wanted it to go. You may have to go back and change the size if it is not in alignment with the other widgets displayed in that area of your page.

As you probably know, it’s polite to follow all the blog rules and to do a blog post regarding your award. This will encourage more traffic to your site and increase your followers.

I hope this is helpful?

Happy to be Super Sweet – Super Sweet Blogging Award

Hi Everyone

It’s my great pleasure to receive and accept the Super Sweet Blogging Award. I am so thrilled to have been nominated for this award by Mike from mikesfilmtalk.com Whose site has been featured on Freshly Pressed and who has over 200 followers.

Mike describes himself as:

“A Sporadic YouTuber, Blogger, Film Fan, Gamer and Survivor. It’s been an interesting last couple of years. If you stop by, pull up a chair and look around, you might find something you like.”

I would encourage you to take a look at his amazing blog as I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

So here is the award that I can now proudly display on my blog:

Super Sweet Blogging Award
Super Sweet Blogging Award
As with any award, there are some interesting requirements for accepting:

1. Give credit to the person who chooses to nominate you

2. Answer the “Super Sweet” questions

3. Nominate a “Baker’s Dozen” (13)

The super sweet questions are:

1. Cookies or cake? I can’t have either as I have lots of food allergies and intolerances. In the past, I have made chocolate muffins that are suitable for my restrictive diet.

2. Chocolate or vanilla. Sugar free, Gluten Free, Wheat free, Yeast free and Dairy free Chocolate. Did I mention I have lots of food allergies and intolerances? I am sometimes naughty and have chocolate that has some dairy in it and it’s not good for me, tut, tut! Can’t even attempt any of the other no no foods though, as the pain and dizziness would be too much.

3. What is your favourite sweet treat, cheesecake or frozen yoghurt? Strangely I can’t have any of these, I have to stick to certain fruits.

4. When do you crave sweet things the most? At night and when I am out and about. Anytime I walk past chocolate because I want some but have to wait to get mine from the health food shop and if it’s closed or out of stock, I am not a happy bunny.

5. If you had a sweet nickname what would it be? Sweetheart.

Lastly, the list of the Bakers Dozen:

quirkybooks Awarded Blog of the Year 2012

Hi Everyone

It has been such a busy award time for me lately, both receiving and giving and now it is time to do it all over again. I am so grateful to:

http://utesmile.wordpress.com for nominating me for the first Blog of the Year 2012 Award. This means such a lot.

https://catnipoflife.wordpress.com for my second Blog of the Year 2012 Award, that means I am up to two stars, mega awesome.

It feels such an honour to be given awards and to know that people love reading my writing. Your support is a pillar of strength and I welcome the awards with open arms and accept with gratitude.

So here is what you need to know about:

‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

(This has been copied word for word for accuracy. It is suggested you do the same…makes posting easy!)

Do you know a blog that deserves an award?

Do you have special blogs that you love to read?

Which blogs do you bookmark and follow?

Would you like to give them an award this year?

Then the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award is for you!

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award.

2 Write a blog post and name/tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page, quirkybooks Awarded Blog of the Year 2012 and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join The Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Badges

There are six badges for you to collect – you can either ‘swap’ your badge for the next one each time you are given the award – or even proudly display all six badges if you are lucky enough to be presented with the award six times!

Need to know more? Check out the FAQ page

And Congratulations! on being chosen for the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award!

‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – thumbnails

Here are the 6 awards in thumbnail size for your sidebar – feel free to Right Click and save any of the images on this page:

So there you go those are the rules and the name of the game.

For those of you who want to play, the ball is in your court!

And my nominees for the award are as follows:
Enjoy your award, I look forward to seeing the logo on your blog and reading more inspirational blog posts from you.
