Launch of sandrabellamy.co.uk

Hi everyone

Today is a good day.

Cinnamon was given the all clear for his cheek wound yesterday afternoon. It is no longer infected and almost healed.

It’s my two year anniversary of being free from a not very nice person to me.

It is also the launch of sandrabellamy.co.uk

Here is a copy of my About Sandra Bellamy/Home page:

Welcome to the website of Sandra Bellamy.

Sandra Bellamy, Writer, Owner and Founder of quirkybooks.net and beatredundancyblues.com/.co.uky

A Writer and Redundancy Breakthrough and Employment Success Specialist by night, a part-time Tutor for the Recovery Learning Community, a full-time Fitted Bedroom Specialist in John Lewis by day and a volunteer Health Buddy. Sandra Bellamy has a range of skills, experience, knowledge and expertise that she loves sharing with others to advance their own career and their own learning.

Sandra’s life changing moment came when she was made redundant for the second time in 2009.

“When I was made redundant for the second time in my career, it changed my life. At first I felt my gut was wrenched from me, worried about my future, concerned about finances, bewildered and lost, I just didn’t know what I was going to do.

A couple of weeks later I began to feel relieved that it was over.  I thought about the negative aspects of the job I had just left and focused on what I could change about my life and my future career to make me happy. Rather than just being in a job that I was good at, I began to see and understand what job I was meant to be doing. I assessed –

What I was passionate about?

What made me happy?

What did I ultimately want to do with my life?

I came up with two answers:

  1. To be a writer
  2. To help people

I now do both of these.

I  have had:

I have written the course content for ‘Blogging as an aid to recovery – How to start a WordPress.com blog’ that I am teaching for the Recovery Learning Community.

My blog about writing is at quirkybooks.wordpress.com. I write all of the content for beatredundancyblues.com and beatredundancyblues.co.uk. and beatredundancyublues.wordpress.com. I have my own author website at quirkybooks.net that is currently under construction and I am working on my first two e-Books.

I help people who are redundant to get back into work via my two websites beatredundancyblues.com and beatredundancyblues.co.uk. These are free to use resources, that have access to lots of job sites, recruitment sites and courses sites from within the one site. They have a wealth of other useful information, help and advice. Including about job interviews, time management and health and wellbeing. beatredundancyblues likes to take a holistic approach to redundancy and getting back into work.

Redundancy changed my whole outlook on life and now I am a much happier and more fulfilled person, who believes in myself and what I was born to do.  I do not profess to be the best, just to enjoy what I do and to help others  as best as I can.”

I am still waiting on the test results from Daisy’s operation. She has another check-up tomorrow morning because she had some severe swelling when she was checked by the vet yesterday.

I hope you enjoy your fireworks evening and it explodes with loads of good things for you.

Write as soon as I am able to,

Sandra

  2. Sandra, this is great news, many congratulations and so glad that Cinnamon is better too, phew 🙂

You are inspirational. I too was made redundant twice, both due to office closure. The second time, in June 2011, was at the same time that my then 18 year old daughter was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Like you, at first I was distraught but I realised that I needed to change my life and pursue the one thing I’ve always wanted to do, which is to write. I hoped that by doing so I could encourage and inspire others to change their lives, my message being that it is never too late since this all seemed to happen to me after I turned 50.

I’m now 54 and my life has changed dramatically. I have had some articles published in magazines and when I started my blog in January of this year I had no idea of the community I would find here. I am going to be writing about this and my experiences since that time soon.

Your site is so helpful and encouraging and I wish you every success in all you do 🙂

    1. Thanks Sherri. It is absolutely fantastic to hear how far you have come since redundancy and that you realised, you were the one who needed to take control of your life and change it for the better. I would love to share your story with others on my http://www.beatredundancyblues.co.uk site if you would be happy for me to? I could copy and paste this post, minus the bit about Cinnamon? I have just had a redundancy success story submitted to me for publishing on this site and I think yours would be a great addition. I could include a link to your blog site and any other sites you may have?

      2. Oooh, so exciting, thanks so much Sandra! I am really looking forward to reading everyone’s stories on our site and again, thanks so much for including me in this and being able to help others who have gone through the hell of redundancy.

      1. Thanks so much. Unfortunately there was more piggie drama yesterday. Daisy had to go in for emergency surgery yesterday because some of her stitches had opened up,and the wound was in a mess. She wasn’t bleeding to death thank goodness but I had to pay for her to go under the anaesthetic again to have the wound flushed, any infected tissue removed and to be stitched back up again. I am off from work today and the next 3 days, to look after her.

  3. Good for you. You followed a dream and made it work. I would be really interested to know more about your blogging as an aid to recovery program. Is it online? For purchase? This post is very encouraging, especially because you’ve been there and know of what you speak.

    1. Thanks so much. The Blogging as an aid to recovery is a course I have created for the Recovery Learning Community, that I will be teaching for 3 weeks at WorkWays in Devon in the UK. I will be teaching people with mental health difficulties how to start a WordPress.com blog that they will continue to use after the course is finished. It will have a strong emphasis on how blogging can help to make them feel better because of the control it gives them over something in their lives when the rest of their life might feel out of control. It is about forming online blogging friendships, interacting with others, reaching out to like-minded people and growing a blog community. I intend to write e-Books about blogging in the future to buy. I am currently working on two other books first. I offer one–to-one blog set-up training. Videos are a future possibility. What type of program were you looking for?

      1. I’m not looking for anything in particular, but my daughter has been dealing with some depression and I thought blogging would be good for her. It’s totally anonymous, or can be, you can say what you think and no one else even has to see it. Just wondered if that was the kind of mental health issues you were talking about, .

      2. Yes, absolutely. Some students will have depression or anxiety, they could have post-traumatic stress or other mental illness. Blogging can certainly help with depression as a person’s confidence grows when they begin to speak to other like-minded people. They realise they are not alone and can form online friendships. The course does cover the safety aspect of blogging online. Once a post is published, then others will see, as it is in the public domain. Sadly, there are people out there who can say things that aren’t nice. Such comments can usually be trashed or deleted. All students are made aware of this before they sign up for a WordPress account. Where does your daughter live?
